Search behaviour in PIMS vs Assetstudio

Stijn Van Roey 5 years ago in Archived • updated by petra.tant 2 years ago 6

In assetstudio it is very straightforward to find a record. You can enter freetext in the searchfield, and narrow the results by selecting classifications.

In Pims this is not  possible (it is possible with queries like: Classification.id= c1044605931541dabf83a14901a0a0c4 and FieldName("Fieldname") ="record*")

It would be nice if the pims search has the same behaviour as assetstudio.

Hi Stijn,

My apologies for my late response, but I was not in the office for a couple of weeks.
I must admit I'm a little surprised to see your request, because the behavior you're describing should already be implemented in the various search boxes of the PIM Studio.
E.g. the search expression MyProductName* AND Classification.id= c1044605931541dabf83a14901a0a0c4 and FieldName("Fieldname") ="record*" or MyAspectName* should work just fine.

Have you experienced this issue in a specific area of the PIM Studio or is this a studio wide issue?
Can you give a bit more information about what you are searching (type of object, search expression, fields, ...) and what result you expect?

Much appreciated,

Hello Sven,

As described in the request:
"In assetstudio it is very straightforward to find a record. You can enter freetext in the searchfield, and narrow the results by selecting classifications"

In the pims this is only possible with "impossible-to-explain-to-my-clients"-queries. The queries are great for developers, but for users it is too complex.

I think narrowing the results by selecting a category or classification is the way to go (in combination with querystrings if needed of course)

Kind regards

Stijn

Hi Stijn,

Thanks for the update Ms. Petra,

Yes, good news! This too has come up with our Products Users. The result is that we have provided self-help guides on different search strategies they can use in Products.
